We are in love with San Candido and the Dolomites in every season, they offer us breathtaking landscapes and plenty of activities to do. Today, we want to share with you 11 reasons to visit San Candido and its surroundings in the summer.

The mountains surrounding San Candido are part of the Sesto Dolomites range and are located south of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo Nature Park. These imposing peaks offer spectacular views, changing color at different times of the day depending on the light and season.

If you love cycling, Innichen offers panoramic bike paths and exciting mountain bike trails. The San Candido-Lienz bike path is one of the most famous and easiest, truly suitable for everyone. You can rent bikes in San Candido, pedal through enchanting landscapes until you reach the Austrian town of Lienz, and comfortably return by train.

The town of San Candido has a rich history dating back to Roman times, having been founded in 769. In the historic center, you can admire the splendid Collegiate Church of San Candido, one of the most important Romanesque churches in the region, the Baroque gem St. Michael’s Parish Church, and the small Dolomythos Museum about local history.

San Candido is ideal for families. Besides walks and bike paths, children can have fun at the gnome village on top of Mount Baranci next to the Rifugio Gigante Baranci or race down the Fun Bob, which is also loved by adults.
